This country-by-country grid will help get you started on your foreign law research. Don't hesitate to request reference assistance!
Notes about the grid:
- Links under "Country" go to the CIA's World Factbook. The "LOC" Call Number indicates where the print materials for that country are located on the Lower East Side (LES) of the Yale Law Library.
- The icons under "Regional Map" go to a map of the larger geographical region.
- The "Online Guide" column includes the most substantial guide available from a library or research site. (If you find a better one, please let me know).
- "FLG" refers to the outstanding and comprehensive Foreign Law Guide by Reynolds & Flores. FLG will give you an historical, political and legal framework for each country plus the past and current sources of legal information, including codes and cases, print and online. This is a Yale subscription database.
- "HLS" refers to Harvard Law School's list of online guides to doing legal research in foreign jurisdictions.

- "World Law Guide" is a compilation of legislation, court, and other information.
- The "Lexis" and "Westlaw"columns indicate what materials are available for the jurisdiction in those databases (very scarce)
- Finally, the"Other Primary Database" column lists any other Yale subscription or open-access database for that country.
